Final Manfred Monday

Final Manfred Monday

In an effort to better connect Generation Z with Major League Baseball, commissioner Rob Manfred has partnered with End of the Bench to publish a weekly column on the state of baseball, his efforts to make the game more youth-friendly, and any other general observations about the world of sports.

Well, #ManFam,

The time is here. Much like a season of your fave Netflix series, my Manfred Mondays column on End of the Bench is coming to an end.

No cap the last few months have been super dope. Y’all have been gassing me up from the get-go, and honestly thinking back on it now, I am trying not to get too in my feels.

Deadass, I have learned so much and been able to come up with so many ideas thanks to the #ManFam, and low key, would not have been able to do this without y’all.

This last letter marks the tenth time we have been able to gather together and just hash shit out, and I think 10 is a great number to end on. Odd numbers are super sus anyways.

If you’re just catching up, over the course of the last couple of months we’ve tackled the following issues in the game of Major League baseball, all aimed at improving them in hopes of attracting more Generation Z fans:

  1. The Overview
  2. The All-Star Game
  3. Ballpark Food
  4. Stadiums
  5. Technology
  6. Game Promotions
  7. Ticketing
  8. Scheduling
  9. The Playoffs

Do all of the ideas we came up with smack? Nah, fam. But we aren’t going to put anybody on blast.

Baseball is America’s pastime, and we have an obligation to hold true to that, but also an obligation to adapt to the times. It is a hard balance, and one many in the game are unwilling to buy into.

Although I am leaving you all today, my effort to convince those folks and progress the game forward won’t stop.

I can promise you that we will continue to grind and next season we will run this shit back. I’m so hyphy to learn what trends we are going to be getting into in 2022, and I am even more excited to implement them into our historic game.

Finally, I just wanted to say good luck to all the teams in the upcoming MLB playoffs, good luck to End of the Bench as they continue to grow, and most of all, good luck to the #ManFam.

Peace and love, baby.

WE OUT.
