Manfred Monday: Ticket Tantrums

Manfred Monday: Ticket Tantrums

In an effort to better connect Generation Z with Major League Baseball, commissioner Rob Manfred has partnered with End of the Bench to publish a weekly column on the state of baseball, his efforts to make the game more youth-friendly, and any other general observations about the world of sports.

Waddup #ManFam,

It’s Rob here. I'm just going by Rob this week, and would appreciate you all respecting my space on that.

I hope all my freaks and geeks have had a sick week watching America’s greatest game (no thanks to me making it more Generation Z friendly).

After attending a few of our clubs’ games this week, I came across yet another improvement we can make to our ballpark experience to help you feel more eager to attend games - ticketing.

Our ticketing is SO like not Gen Z friendly and I just canNOT with it anymore.

From changing our season ticket model to the actual tickets themselves, I came up with a few ideas I hope y’all like, please make sure to like and subscribe if you are feeling them.

All Digital Tickets

This is something a lot of people are taking advantage of already, but we’re going to move to a 100% eco-friendly digital ticket system. No more killing trees in the name of a memorable keepsake you can take with you for the rest of your life to remember, we want you to get in and out of the ballpark without ever having to put your phone down.

Half-Season Tickets

Committing to an entire season of baseball, like the majority of the year!? How on earth could we expect you all to do that with the constant mood swings and need to branch out individually.

Quarter-Season Tickets

For that like casual summer baseball fling.

One Night Tickets

Just like our standard ticket, but discounted so like you don’t have to tell anybody about it.

Patio Tickets

I’m going to advise all of our teams to build patios outside their stadiums, with tickets available for blacking out during weekend baseball brunch or just for casual after-work drinks during the night games.

Teaser Tickets

Available for every game, these tickets will allow you to exclusively watch one inning of the game before being prompted to purchase tickets for the remainder. This way you all can decide what the vibe is at the ballpark very quickly without having to spend all of your money!

Tik Tickets

I am MOST excited about this one. As you all know, I love Tik Tok, and want to partner with the platform next season to start selling tickets. Find incredible deals on your favorite team’s tickets in sixty seconds or less, right after you upload that video of the latest dance craze or watch some guy dance with a drone

As always, let me know what you guys think, and be sure to tune in as I try to make the game more accessible for Generation Z on "Manfred Mondays," only on End of the Bench.
